Ok dude, getting into the better stuff now! Gonna plug the idle reliefs this weekend, heads comin off, and going to cc them. Do you have any clue of what the land and sea heads or maybe wayne taylor heads cc before i whack them? I know you said.012-.015 on them, but if I had a cc reading, i could get a whole lot closer. Plus, need a part number on some 80d jets. Keep up the good work dude!

cool deal dude! Thanks a bunch man...I run an XR-6 150 merc. Not a bad little motor. I like it due to the fact that here isn't a lot to go wrong. With the normal aspiration and all, it should be easy to spot a problem early. I know that pretty soon all we will be able to get are the more technical motors but for now, I like what I have. I really don't want to "blow the doors off" or anything, I just want to "upgrade" a few things.....Again thanks Doc.....Dave

I'm not Rowdy, but if it were mine.  With pluged reliefs and stock exhaust port heights, run 50cc and premium gas.  Absolutely no smaller than 48cc.  50cc will give you approx 145# compression,  stocks port on late models 200/225's may even be close to 150#.

What year model motor?  If it's a closed deck 93 or later, you will run 50cc on the two top chambers and approx 58cc on the bottom.  If you are running 2.7 heads 50cc on all six and jet up two sizes for the bottom two.  If 88 - 92 heads throw them away and get some 2.7 heads prefered or later closed deck heads.

Don't take the heads to your local machine shop.  They won't know how to do the squish after cutting them.  If they are the closed deck heads, send them to Monty's racing.  For just a little over $200 he will cut them 50cc (top two holes) and do the squish band.

If you are just plugging the exhaust and boosting compression and the motor has had no porting done, you won't need #80 mains.  #76 maybe 77's would be much closer.  You should also install a set of .106 pullovers and posibly go down a couple of sizes on the mids.

One other thing to remember.  Don't buy marina gas, if you must don't run WOT with it.  Don't run WOT with gas that has been in the tank for over six weeks.  Buy your gas from a high volume station.  Gas looses octane rather quickly, and when you start getting close to 150# compression, there is very little room for octane loss.  Might also consider backing timing down the 16 degrees.

That's what I would do, but Rowdy is the man and might have something different for you.
