I just took out my boat for the first time today. I couldn't get anykind of reading from my speedometer, is there any way to test and see if it is wiring or if the speedometer is broken?

Thanks All

DAWG

Most sreedometers work off water pressure from a pickup on the back of the boat. Make sure it is down , and if it is it may be stopped up.

My speedo pickup is on the motor and uses water pressure.  When it quit working in the past I had some trash in the hole. Cleaned it out and now works like a champ. Hope this helps.

Yep...just as DAWG said.  If it is a water pressure type they are made to "kick up" if hit.  There are other types such as a water wheel type and that could be a wiring problem and then there is the static type that detects the movement of water past a sensor these are affected by wax...not sure which you have but let us know.

Mine is not a wheel, it is a bar that moves up and down with water pressure I am assuming, I will check and see if it is stopped up, I know that it is getting power because the light on the speedometer is working. Thanks guys!
