I have a 01 929 and I'm having some trouble with one of my livewells. One of them works as advertised the other will pump in but the areator will not turn on. I checked the pump and it works fine. I looked under the console and everything looks to be connected to the switches. I dont have any blown fuses and I'm at the end of my limited knowledge. Does anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram?

I was having the same problem with mine.  I checked the pump by changing the switches and it worked so  I used a multimeter at the connections on the pump and found that the power wasnt making it to the pump.  I just traced the wires and found were they had split.

Good luck!

You should have 4 pumps, one each well to file and one each for the areator.  Make sure you checked the right pump to see if it was working.

A lot of the time something will get stuck in those pumps, line, grass, sand, rocks you name it and it will stop it up.

If you did check out everything and the pump works if wired direct to the battery then it is the wire or switch.  Could be a bad connection where the wire hooks into the pump, where the wire hooks into the switch or any place along the line in between or it could be the switch.

It's easyest to check the switch 1st, then go from there.

Good Luck and let us know what you find out.

Yeah all the pumps work but that one. I going to replace the wire connectors and see if that helps, if not ill chase the wires and look for a bad spot. I think while im doing this I will upgrade the aerators from the 700 ghp to 800 or 1100 gph, what do yall think.

Thanks for the help guys,
Danny

The easyest way to check that pump is to unhook it and then hold the wires directly to the battery, if it comes on your issue is the wires or switch if not then it could be the pump or something stuck in the pick up keeping it from coming on.

I run 750's and 1100's in mine and have yet to have an issue.

Yeah I did that and the pump spins so i know its not the pump. On replacing the pumps I fished my first tourny the other weekend. I did alright I put two in the boat and got 4th, conditions were tough. I had never put fish in the livewell that I intended on releasing at the end of the day. Worrying about the fish in the box was as stressful as trying to catch them. I figure it is better to have to much air rather than not enough.

Ron Fogelson

Worry more about fresh water rather then enough air; even more so when the water starts to get hot in the summer.

Air will only help so much, changing out the water will help more.  With fresh water you get air and get rid of all the pollutants in the water from fish poo and what not.

Now in the heat of the day in summer, the coolest water is going to be found 1st thing in morning so when adding or replacing water over the day add some ice to help cool it down.  I used frozen soda bottles because the ice lasts longer, making a cool spot in the tank, keeps any thing from the ice melting into the water supply and it keeps my drinks cool until I put one of them in the live well.

Also use Bass Medics Rejuvinade, lots of stuff on the market but for me Rejuvinade has been the best to-date.   ~c~

So heres the funny story. So when I checked the fuses I only checked the 5 amp fuses since that is what the top of the pump said it required. Well after a few minutes of trouble shooting I decided to chase the wires well at every spot that was wrapped in electrical tape I unwrapped to make sure I didnt have a short. Well I chased the wires all the way to the fuse panel with no luck. Just so happens that the brown wire with a white stripe had a 3 amp fuse that was  you guessed it blown ~rant ~rant ~rant Well not the pump is up and running but something still wasnt right. I thought maybe something was in the line in stuck in one of the valves. In checking the valve by the tank I noticed a little water under the well. The line that runs from the pump to the valve was had a 6 inch crack in it so I'll have to go to lowes tomorrow and buy a new line  ~rant ~xyz ~rant   The moral of the story is to check ALL the fuses not just the 5 amp ones. Oh well no I have something to do tomorrow after work.

Glad to hear you figured it out! And a good lesson for everyone to learn :-*!

Thanks for the follow-up!

At least I figured it out at home. I would have suck to have money riding on it. I bet I check all the fuses from here on out. Now that I think about it my livewells are probably the most negelcted part of my boat. I almost never use them. I know now though that they need just as much attention as the rest of the boat. I think from now on I will at least fill them, let the aerate for thirty minutes and pump them out every time I go to the lake. That way I get more comfortable using them and they dont just sit without being used.

Thats a good idea, then during a tournament you should have to worry about doing  ~c~
