I have read about "raising" the motor up after break in? Not woith trim but the jack plate. Can anyone help with that info? I am new to a bassboat.

It doesn't have much to do with when to adjust the motor height more about when the boater decides to try and get the very best performance out of his/her boat.

The adjustment is part of having a good set up.  If the motor is to high you risk loss of water pressure and could burn up your motor, if it's to low the boat will tend to plow the water.  Both to high/to low can make a boat hard to drive and dangerous if it's to bad.

As you raise a motor from the low position a boat tends to gain RPM's and speed but the hole shot goes down.  Most like a good balance between the two, others like a great hole shot and average speed and still others don't care how long it takes a boat to get out of the water all they want is all the speed they can get.

So if the motor can spin a 25 pitch prop at 5600 RPM with it low on the boat as you raise the motor the RPM's tend to go higher so if you start to red line you might be able to spin a bigger prop letting you go even faster.

You have to come up with some info before the set-up folks can help get you dialed in.

They are going to need some #s

Like the Prop to Pad difference you have now.
Your max speed
Max RPM's
Water Pressure
Size and pitch and type of prop

Good luck, setting up a boat just right can be a challenge but it is fun getting it right where you want it.

Thanks FOGY. I have had it out on 2 trips so far and am happy with it. I am not worried about any changes right now.

Glad to help jr1229  each member here has had to start some place, the best thing about Ultimatebass is folks don't have to do it on their own any more.   ~c~

I started out with a 1999 Nitro 640 with a 75hp on it and never messed with the settings but I did go to a stainless prop that helped out over all ride and speed.
