Repairing the Front Deck on an 87 Ranger

I am trying to repair the front deck on my 87 ranger 370V bass boat.  Once I pulled the carpet back and cut a test hold in the fiberglass to see how rotten the wood was, WOW major wood ROT!!!  I am trying to save $$$ and do it myself, and want to get some advice from someone who might have gone through this as well.  ANY adive would be great at this point!!  Thanks!
