I recently acquired a 2000 Champion SC/DC tournament and it runs like a champ, is very clean for it's age and spider crack free. On the console is a switch marked "hydro". It is a rocker switch with man and auto and is accompanied by a rheostat marked min and max. What is it's purpose?

Welcome to UB.
Hope I can help, a friend of mine had one on his boat, and it was for a hydrolic jack plate. The rheostat controlled the depth of the motor.

It is for your Hydor - Air system for your livewells.  Not hydraulic jack plate.  Turned on Auto with the rheostat set to "min" it will kick on like every 6 minutes, set to "max" it will kick on every 1 minute or so. Just guestimated times but close. I have a '98 Champ 187 and my hydro pump just went out.  I think I'm gonna have to pull the entire gas tank out to get to it. If you look in your passenger side livewell, you'll see the screen near the bottom on the back wall, this is your intake, and the sprayer on the top of the back wall. It's very handy to turn on "Manual", close your livewells and trailer to weigh in's or keep fish alive to bring home if you don't have an ice chest to put them in.
