question about the new nitro

I noticed at the boat show that the new nitro have a very shallow front lip on the casting deck.  Why would they do that?  By the looks of it it would seem as if you could just boot your rods right on over the deck?   Do you guys like that or what?

They started doing it when the Z-9 came out, following along with other boats by dropping and narrowing the top cap you get a bit more room on the deck and for shorter folks pitching with 7 plus foot rods they have less of a chance at smacking the rod tip into the side of the top cap.

But yes it sure won't take much to knock/kick/bump a few rods off the side.

I agree, I like the one on my 2008 Z-7 a whole lot better.  I have kicked a rod and reel to the lip too many times!  I guess marketing people know better.

I like the sides being low on my Z-9. I have not had a problem with kicking anything off yet.
