About me:
My name is Clay Mcintyre and I am 33 years old.  I have been married 7 years to my wife Marla.  We have 5 wonderful children.  I put God and family before everything else.

Fishing:

I have been bass fishing every since I could say the word bass.  For the past two years I have fished club tournaments and have done very well.  Last year I won 3 out of 8 tournaments that we had.  I am looking to add to my winnings this year.  I would like to bass fish on a larger tournament scale than I am right now.

Occupation:

I am a salesman for a mulit-million dollar building material buying corp. My annual sales are close to 15 million dollars.  I have been a salesman my whole life.  I have worked retail and whole sale. I know how to push products to make sales.  My job now requires me to promote different kinds of products that building material companies offer to all of our 265 independent dealers. My customers span over a 12 state area.  It takes a special kind of person promote products and sell them with ethusiasm.  I am that kind of person.  I am very motivated to learn product information. To properly promote a product you must know everything about it.

In closing:

I believe that I would be a very good asset to your company.  I have Sixteen years of sales experience and know how to promote your products.  I am on the water ten or more times a month. I love to fish and to talk about it.  I am a member of many different forums.  I also use these as tools to promote my sponsors products.  I would promote your products with professionalism and ethusiasm. I have a great personality and know how to sale vendors.

Quite impressive Clay.

Now can you create enthusiasm where none is present?  Sometimes that has to be done.

And do you have different sponsorship exposure packages?

Just some food for thought.....

Good luck!

Considering the last two years with the housing market the way it is, I have had to create enthusiasm where there hasn't been any. (lol)  You have to be up beat all this time in this industry or it will suck you up and spit you out !!!  I guess I don't quite get what you mean about exposure packages.

Get you a resume' together. I am pretty sure there is a section on UB that shows peoples resume'...

fishforfree

I never had a resume......companies aren't interested in resume's.

Resume's scream ME.  Companies, potential sponsors, want to know "What's in it for ME!"

A sponsorship/exposure package is preparing a sponsorship package in similar fashion to a trade show.  Any trade show will have gold, silver, platinum, presenting, and so on, sponsors.  The sponsors are promised placement and exposure in prime locations, at certain periods, to "X" number of people, "X" number of times.  Depending on how much a company is willing to spend depends on their level of exposure.

Sponsorship works the same way for any company sponsoring B.A.S.S. events.  Let's say Evan Williams Bourbon for example.  They are a major sponsor of B.A.S.S. They are the presenting sponsor at certain events which costs "X" amount.  They are allowed tents at all tournaments.....which costs additional "X" amount. 30 second television ads are includced........and so on.  It's about REACH.  The more REACH a sponsor desires, the more they spend.

Should be the same for anglers seaking sponsorship.  It's all about REACH.  How can you help your sponsor reach new prospects and be seeb by more faces?

You as an angler, should prepare a sponsorship package that presents exposure opportunites to a potential sponsor.  And I'm not referring to wearing a patch.

I was always sponsored back when I fished tournaments and spoke, and I never had a resume.  Nobody ever asked for one either.

Just my 2 cents.

Good luck!

@fishforfree Great incite on the topic!

So, a package that you send to potential sponsors should focus primarily on hard facts/stats on how many people you can expose their product to in any given day/month/etc.? Besides this important data what other info, in your opinion, should be included in a package that's sponsor bound?

Also, is there any kind of standard ballpark rates that sponsors go by, when we're talking about the "price to exposure" ratio? I would think this would be determined on a company to company basis, but I'm new to all this as well.  ;)

I have picked up three sponsors since I put out my full resume in the resume section.  Just going by the three sponsors that I picked up, sponsorship will based on performance.  Most of the time they (do) require you to turn in a resume'  Your performance be reviewed yearly.  If you sale a fair amount of the sponsors product this year, next year your discounts or freebies may increase.  It can also go the other way, if you don't make them any money or hold up your end of the contract ,they could decrease it or drop you.  All you can do is promote the company to the best of your ability.  Also you don't have to be the best fisherman in the world or a bass elite to get a sponsor.  I can fish pretty good and have won tournaments, but its my sales experience that gave me the chance to promote these two companies.  And I can promise you that I will do anything in my power to keep my sponsors.  I have always wanted to fish professionally and this is the first step to that dream.

You put your package together with a price created by you.  Set a fixed rate and approach a number of differnt companies OUTSIDE of the fishing industry.....they sponsor/advertise by means of cash!
