My only and first love was the wood Skeeter Holmes Thurmond built in 1948. But I never had a chance to get one. So the closest is to one are my Balsa wood model Skeeters that are 14" long. I can't fish anymore so I build these models for fun and enjoyment.
A fleet of Balsa wood model wooden Skeeters 14" long.

I can guarantee you have never seen so many wooden model Skeeters in your life unless you were at Holmes Thurmond's Skeeter boat factory back in the late 40's or early to mid 50's, all of his original boats were approx 13' 9" or so.
All models below are approx 14" long.
All ready to roll out of here, or better, float outa here!
Three are the original wood Skeeter built in 1948, the two other are a different type. They are a wheelchair model built in 1948 for an amputee from the war from Boosier City, La. The center section is a livewell. A hole was drilled in the bottom and the water would seek its level. World's first livewell!!

All have a copy of the first orginal Skeeter logos known on the back sides, I those made on my computer.

Just bought my 1993 Skeeter w/Evinrude 150 2 days ago. Everything on her works except for the finders, mph gauge, and the trim gauge. These are the pictures that the seller had, so I have not got a chance to clean her up yet. Couple things about her, she is in fantastic shape, has an Minnkota 70lb TM on the front, 3 bank charger, hot foot peddle, carpet is in perfect shape. The seets are a little jacked up, but just a little bit of cash and they will be looking brand new. The gentleman had her for sale for $6000 and was able to talk down to $4000, she fires right up!

You got a steal there. Very nice boat and at 4 grand A little loving touch with the wax and you'll have a sparkling gem. Congrats on a great find. You'll get years of angling fun out of that rig

Thank you very much. Buying the wax to shine her up once this rain goes away. I got it for $4,500.00 not sure why my fingers decided to type $4,000.00 haha. $4,500.00 is still a great deal, I couldnt believe i was able to talk him down.

Buying the wax to shine her up once this rain goes away

You should look at Pro-Tec products.... Just to prove how good their stuff works, they bought an older boat that's been sitting outside uncovered for 15 years and they are going to use only their products on it. There may be some information on them floating around this forum too, not sure. At one time someone here had a thread where they had used pro-tec to bring back shine to their old boat.

Late to the party but just got this this spring. 14 fx 20. Yamaha sho 250. Just finished the 2hrs breakin last night. Next time out I get to see what this baby will do . Had rangers before this is my first skeeter , have to say I love it so far.

Thanks!  I fell into a good deal.  The previous owner completely redid the boat including rebuilding the engine and replacing all the pumps last year, then decided he needed a bigger boat for stabilization as he was old and wore cowboy boots   Once I get the trim and tact gauges working she will be 100%!
