Ok, if we have this tournament in September, Where would yall rather have it,  up North or down South? Basically the two place we have been looking at are the Grand Bayou and the Calcasieu River.

I'm kinda torn Grand Bayou can be awsome in Oct but I would also love to fish the Calcasieu River I have read alot about it on the board here. How far is it from Shreveport and what kind of lodge can we exspect?

It's probably a good 4 hrs. from Sheveport. The cabins are pretty big and they are in a nice park. I think September would be the best month as far as turnout goes. Several things kick off in October down here and will probably hurt our turnout. For one Some of the guys may have kids in high school and that means football is in full swing. Also hunting season starts at the beginning of October and our clubs has some hunters. I don't know if these things would affect yall club but I would like to have it when both clubs will have a good turnout. Tell me what you think.

How close to Lake Charles would we be?  I think September is probably a good month.  We don't have too many hunters in our clubs, mostly everyone just fishes.  I'm don't think school being back in will hurt us too much either.  I think we might be onto a winning combination.

The park is only 10 to 15 minutes away from downtown Lake Charles. If you are familiar with the area it is just west of Moss Bluff.

I have two open weekends in September - the weekend of the 4th and the weekend of the 25th. Are either one of these a problem and if not which would everyone like.  Maybe we should set up a poll for the location and the dates.

Just a thought. Everyone should also post where they voted so that we don't have someone from Indiana deciding where and when we go ;D

Hey Rattle - is the Calcasieu River below the "salt water" line set up by Wildlife and Fisheries, which would require us to get the salt water fishing license? ???  It would be easiest to get it now since we have to get new fishing licenses anyway.

Mike,  yes and no. The Calcasieu River runs all the way to the gulf but all bass tournaments held there always make anything south of the salt water barrier off limits. Our tournament will  have the same rules. Really and truely there isn't a whole lot of good bass fishing south of the barrier. Every now and then when the sality is low they will catch decent stingers down there but not very often. Believe me when I tell you there is more river than yo can handle North of the barrier. The Calcasieu River is rather large with all kinds of different types of water to fish. There are not alot of big fish on the river but there are lots of fish on the river, not to mention some places are down right beautiful. I think you will enjoy it.

Thanks Rattle.  I'm originally from Baton Rouge and dealt with the salt water license for fishing the Basin and areas south.

I'm looking forward to it.

Ok, I looked into the cabins for the weekend of the 25th and they have 9 available for that weekend. I know it's early but we need to get everyone to vote for the region and time so we can book wherever it may be. Right now it looks like it will be down here. As soon as we close the poll we can reserve some cabins. If it ends up being down here I will reserve the cabins for everyone. I'll just need to know how many.

Based on the vote right now, its 6 votes for down south on the 25th and NO votes for anything else.  We really need a better count of how many will be going from up here.  I will get with Mike/Laurie and see if we can get something together.  I, for one, would probably be interested in coming down on Thursday and staying until Sunday.

I'm sure Mike and/or Laurie will respond to this also.

Good job Rattle.
