Almost didn't go today after the weather that rolled through early this morning and winds blowing hard at daylight but decided to try anyway and glad I did, getting on the water at 9 am and quit at 4. Caught 30+ fish on the day, a few on my chatterbait but missed more than I caught which is very unusual for me and the chatterbait, and most came on 2 different T rigged plastics with 3/16 weight. Missile Baits D bomb, love bug, and Zoom ultra vibe worm in watermelon red. Caught an even dozen legals with my best 5 at 10.6 pounds topped off by a nice 4-14 large mouth. Lots of little males and most of the legal fish were males if I guessed right. Water was high at launch and rose .2' before falling that same amount so very little tide movement. Air temps in the high 50's early to mid 60's later, water temp 70-72 everywhere and visibility of 1-2', NW winds 15 mph and gusting. When Bluff Creek is white capped, you know its windy! With the rains of last night the river rose over 7' today and still rising and all that water will be down my way in a couple of days so I'm glad I went and caught a few for a change.
Retired and loving every minute of it!

Bayou you'll have to wait a while for the water and weather. River is 1.5 over flood and supposed to rain all next week. Buddy and I were talking this morning about how many more years we may have to enjoy this sport(both 66) and how weather is impacting our time to get out on the water comfortably. I pretty much shut it down from June to mid September due to heat so I'm trying to get in what I can now.

I totally understand about the heat. If the River would just come up during the hot months and be right in the Spring and Fall it would be perfect.
Yeah, I have projects around the houseboat that the high water is delaying.Hoping it drops out soon... Maybe in two weeks the creek will be back right?
Enjoy the fishing while you can...
