In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away.

I can't get anything to come up on the BM site..it just stays the same for the last 20 minutes and no live weigh-in to watch :bang  How are you guys getting this info?

Blake R.

There was live streaming video of the weigh-in Rich...

My bait is bigger than your bass!

T1A

You have to be kidding me. It was a close call, but maybe he realizes that he needs to go back to the bachelor and stop buying his way to fish the Elite series. Sorry but as you can tell, I don't care much for him lol

the video was cut off about 30 seconds after the last person weighed in.  Bassmaster.com has a live streaming video everyday. Was pretty good!!!

Kennedy Seizes Slim Lead At 'Battle On The Border'

DEL RIO, Texas — Steve Kennedy entered the practice period for the "Battle on the Border presented by Longhorn" on Texas' Lake Amistad never having caught a bass with a swimbait. The 2006 Toyota Rookie of the Year showed Thursday that he is a quick learner, effectively working the swimbait on his way to 36 pounds, 10 ounces and the lead at the season-opening Bassmaster Elite Series event.

"This is just absolutely awesome," the Auburn, Ala., pro said. "My hands have been shaking all day. This is a tremendous fishery."

The Elite Series competition for $673,150 in cash on famed Amistad will be aired on The Bassmasters on Saturday March 17 at 9 a.m. ET on ESPN2.

Though Kennedy had a banner day, he finished with only a 10-ounce lead over Bassmaster Elite Series rookie Scott Campbell, whose 36 pounds, 0 ounces, put him in second.

Kennedy got off to a quick start, boating 30 pounds by 9 a.m., primarily by working the swimbait, taking advantage of overcast skies, and focusing on staging fish in 5 to 8 feet of water. He used a variety of different lures in isolated areas the remainder of the day to upgrade his weight.

Kennedy said he has several areas he feels will be productive throughout the competition. Many are spots he fished in 2006 during his fifth-place finish at the season-opening Elite Series on Amistad.

The 37-year-old pro has been on a tear since joining the Elite ranks in 2006. He narrowly missed out on the 2006 Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year Award, which was won by New Jersey's Mike Iaconelli. Less than two weeks ago, Kennedy scored an eighth-place finish at the 2007 Bassmaster Classic on Lay Lake in Alabama.

"One of my goals this year is to contend for the Angler of the Year," Kennedy said. "I feel very good about my fishing right now and I think I can duplicate my success of last year."

but why is everyone downing velvick?

from the way i read the story martens is to much to blame on this as he is ... and someone could have seriously gotten hurt .... i used to like martens but if he is doing things like this ... i thinks its time for me to change him out of my team ....

Velvick actually put his own life at risk so the boat wouldn't hit Chris Lanes camper with his family sleeping inside if you read the story. Says something for the guy. And who knows why martens went inside. As far as him buying his way into the elite series i'm pretty sure he earned it. He has won some big tournaments out west and isn't that bad of a angler. I think his fishing nowdays is suffering from him having to be on tv alot last year so he didn't fish well. If he could just concentrate on fishing i think he would do alot better this year.

I think he gets a bad rap because he was on The Bachelor.  Yeah, he comes across as a pretty boy, but he's got to be a better than average pro angler.  We should see how good he is when they get out West.  He should have a pretty good chance of fishing in the top 10, but there are other great anglers from the left coast (Monroe, Roumbanis, Rojas).  I don't have a problem with him, I just wish we didn't have to see him all the time.

His girlfriend is one hot chick, though.  If you deny that, you must be on drugs.

:shocking:

Bingo!! Ladies and Gents we have ourselves a winner.  Thats exactly what I think part of it is.

P.S. Ike's in the hunt.  Currently in third place just right going into Saturday.

Money talks  :fishy   he needs to be just where he is...they are gone west...then what will be the excuse......

It should be interesting to see who can all stay consistently in the mid to high twenties and low thirties in weight on the last two days.

Andrew

Kennedy's and Campbells weights were slashed today and they are still doing great cause of the killer first day sacks. I'm glad to see Davy Hite doing good so far also. Other than his one elite win last year he didn't do too good but he is a great angler. I always pick Ike to win tho.
