how are we doing food?  Is everyone pretty much going to fend for themself or are we going to have a planned meal and everyone can bring something to contribute to it?

I figured we'd all meet at some restaurant. I'm packing light so if you guys want to cook out go for it, someone else is going to cook my meal  lo

Sorry I have not been on here in a few days.  I left for St. Louis yesterday at 6am and I pulled in my drive at 3:50pm today.  Too much driving for that short amount of time.

As for the fishing, both pools are great for Bass.  By most people pool 9 is considered the best pool on the whole mississippi.  Like Nate said, you can catch both large and smallmouths just about any way you want.  If I had the choice, I would fish those two pools every day.

Has anyone got a room yet??  If so were??  I am going to call in the morning and I hope to find something.  Talking about food, Saturday night I will be getting there late.  But if you guys are looking for a good place to eat, head out past Cabelas a few miles and look for a place on the right called Spring Lake Inn.  There is alittle motel and some good food.  Get there early or you will be waiting at the bar for a while ~beer~

Only a week guys ~SM

lo i haven't even thought about it.  What ramps have you used up there that are nice?  I've never been there, but I suppose I can do some searching around and see what I can find.

I have only been on that pool one time and we used a ramp that was alright.  But the parking sucked.  If we have 5 boats I don't know if we can fit them all.  It was on the Rt. 82 bridge on the Wis. side.  There is one on the iowa side of the Rt. 82 bridge that has alot more parking I think.  Its called Big Slough Landing, I think it is the one we should use.

http://www2.mvr.usace.army.mil/NIC2/mrcharts.cfm?index=2  Here is a link to the maps that I use.  Pool 9 are maps 031 & 032 & 033.  I hope its okay if I post this link here :-\

Make sure that if we use that ramp, that everyone notices that wing dam on the left heading out to the channel :-*

I just got my hotel room for Saturday night.  I ended up with a room in Prairie and I will drive to Lansing in the morning.  I got the last room at the Delta Motel and could not pass up $55 for the night.

Now all I have to do is pack all my stuff into the boat and hit the road when I get off on Saturday ~bb

guys, do to some financial issues, I am not going to be able to make it.  Sorry, I really wanted to.  Plus it's just too far a drive for day of fishing.

In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away.

Mike don't worry about pictures, I will have my camera.  I am sure that a couple other guys will have one too.  That way we can get some pictures of on the water stuff.

you're kidding??  Soooo...you told them you can't work right?  and yes Rudy is bringing Mike Christian so i guess I will be bringing my boat and that leaves us with an uneven amount again, so I guess either Jeremy or myself will be fishing alone or someone will be packing 3 into their boat.

Oh yeah I will definitely have my camera with me.  I never leave home without it.  There will be plenty of picture to go around.

Okay were getting close and want to get some of this information finalized.  I assume we are going to be staying IN prairie du chien?  It seems to be the only town with some size so I am assuming thats where we would want to be staying.  There is a Super 8 and Best Western on 16 and there is an Americinn a little more northwest towards the river.

Super 8 Prairie Du Chien

Best Western Bluffview Inn & Suites

AmericInn Lodge & Suites of Prairie du Chien

Also, what are we looking at for ramps?  Are we going to drop into pool 10 and fish there?  Or do you guys plan on going north of the locks into pool 9?  I found a neat map of the two pools if anybodys interested.

Actually Lansing is an hour away from PdC.  And Lansing has a few motels of their own.
As does Ferryville WI and Desoto WI.

I guess it would all depend on the pool we plan to fish.  Obviously, the closer, the better.

Buzbait88

From the people I have talked to it sounds like most want to fish pool 9 in lansing so we should stay around there, but Prairie has better hotels, well at least hotels that i have heard of before.  lo  Its the first time I'll be up there so I have no idea what to expect, I've been to cabelas a few times, but never stayed around the area.  Hopefully next year this can be a little better organized.  lo

Ok...Is this thing set yet? I could possibly pull my boat over for the day? I started reading through the thread, but it seems to have taken alot of twists and turns, so just figured I would ask....

Yeah I am in unfamiliar territory here as well.  Pool 10 south of the locks looks awesome but looks are not everything.  If we wanted to lock through it may take a while cause they are barge size obviously and that can be time consuming to go up and then back down.  Specially if there is some barge traffic.  Id rather pick a spot, fish it, and not have to mess with locks of that size.  Anybody have any advice on where we should go?  Stay in Lansing and fish 9?

The hotels on PDC are a lot newer and more up to date but as dug posted, there are some little ma and pa hotels in Lansing.

CaptainMo  I dont see any reason why you couldnt join us?  I would say the more the merrier!

We will be fishing pool 9 on Sunday the 23rd ~c~  We will be having a UB braggin rights tournament.  I think we are going to be using the Big Slough Landing ramp that is just off the Rt. 82 bridge.  I think this is our best choice on that pool.  Sun rise is at 6:06 so I think depending on fog (there will be fog because of the low night temps) we should be able to take off by 6:00 am.  Does this sound good to everyone????

I think that Monday the 24th I will be fishing pool 10 for a few hours before heading home.

Yeah Im going to be staying in PDC for Saturday night and Im just going to drive to lansing in the morning on sunday.

I am probably going to head up there early on saturday and do a little pre-fishing.  Its a long drive and I wanna get in as many casts as I can.  ~cf

So where are we going to grab a beer and a burger at on Saturday night?  Or are we gonna do that Sunday after we are done fishing?

Looks like there is plenty of good greasy bar food to be had.

Buzbait88

lol...I still don't know what I'm going to do, I'd like to leave sat sometime, but don't really want to pay for another night in a hotel, but I also don't want to wake up at 3 in the morning to be there in time.  Decisions, decisions I might just put the topper on my truck and throw a mattress in the back and sleep there.
