what one are you looking at?? I have not decided for sure, but if I find some place to reserve spots it would not be as bad. That way I know that I will have a spot for sure.

I was just kidding but it would be cheaper and if we all plan on having a camp fire or something. It would be a little more difficult to do that in a parking lot than at a campground. I'm just saying. Obviously the hotel is more comfortable, but it will be more expensive as well.

It might also be hard to find a hotel with short notice. I am sure there is going to be at least 2 tournaments that weekend. I normaly stay at a place called the Delta Motel. It is a nice place, it has one of the better lots for parking boats in. I will try and call around in the morning and see what I can find out.

I still may end up camping the 2nd night to save some money if I stay Sunday night. As of right now I a plan on staying and fishing some Monday morning.

Aug 23. We are going to head up around the Prairie Du chien/lansing area. Some place in there. the fishing is supposed to be incredible and its someplace I've wanted to go for a long long time. Somebody's excited.

If you are thinking of fishing lansing. You are looking at going north another 15-20 min. But the fishing is great up there. I hope your ready for some channel fishing Nate

J.K there is plenty of back water areas that hold good numbers of bass. From what I have found on that pool, if you get a fish to blow keep fishing that area really well. My only trouble is I would love to get into some smallies, but I really have trouble finding wing dams up there

That and I would hate to not get a limit because I spent all my time smallie fishing

What is the plan, are we going to have a bragin rights tournament?? Or something along those lines. If so I have all my weigh in stuff, I have bags and a tub and scale. From what I have found, there are not alot of tournaments that weekend. So we should have just some normal pool 13 pressure

If we take off out of prairie area, I would say that we should go to the Iowa side. And use the Marquette ramp, all the ramps in Prairie are pay to use ramps. That and the Marquette ramp is a very nice ramp.

Prairie lansing I don't care. Same pool right?? I say we stay at prairie and should I start searching for a hotel or are we doing a campground?? Bragin rights sounds good to me. I'd love to get into some smallies as well, but if they don't bite I'm heading for some largies, no doubt.

No, Prairie is on pool 10 and Lansing is on pool 9. And the bottom of pool 9 is alot of grass before you get to Lansing. I have only fished pool 9 one time, but had a 17 pound limit in August. But then again pool 10 can be just as good for numbers but you top out around a 13 pound limit.

No matter were you fish, make sure to bring plenty of frogs, swimjigs, vibrashocks, tubes and buzzbaits

That should give you a good start.

A guy I know said he was getting some smallies on day markers on shakeyheads.

I hope I can keep up with you. I have to play it safe on that pool, that is were I ripped the skeg off my motor and bent my prop. that is what I get for listening to someone else

Yeah I am brining my dad along so our boat is full unfortunatley. I guess we could fish 3 out of it cause its a 20ft boat but its obviously not ideal. And I may be bringing a 3rd person as it is. We should try and get a hotel and stuff established by this sunday so we can make this official. I am not from around there and have never been there so I am lost when it comes to that. I am willing to call hotels and do some of the footwork if need be.

I am pumped too. It looks to be a beautiful place. Lets just hope the fishing gods will be nice to us. I hope you pool 13 fishermen take it easy on me.

I would love to come but with it being so far from here and having already scheduled a trip to fish in Ohio on the 9th of next month just can't swing both. What we need to to is plane one for next year ahead of time and get an early start on it

I really wish I was on my way up right now

After the day I had at work, I really need to be on the river. I spent 12 hours in a furnace that was 115* inside. I actually lost 5 pounds today.

I did spend last night setting up my tackle that will be making the trip. For those of us that have never been on pool 9 (it sounds like that is were we all might end up). Look at a map if you can. There are some huge wing damns on that pool, with rocks the size of my wife saturn

But the thought of 20+ keeper days makes it all worth wild.

that sucks Jeremy. I went fishing this morning at 4:30 and I was so tired I layed down for a little cat nap and ended up sleeping for about 3hrs. hmmm...not what to do. Its to late to go over and shoot at R and R and I've got to go look at a house for a possible rewire. Not much, but side job, untaxable and I can charge em 25$ an hour

I'm going to try and make a little cash before the trip.

Prairie du chien seems to be more of a sauger walleye fishery more than anything else. Anybody on here fish this area for LMB before? Just wondering what type of success we can expect to have.

we are heading up a pool to lansing I believe, but here is why. however you want to catch them, whatever you want to catch you can catch. 5lb smallies on topwater. You can catch LMB anywhere from frogs in the slop, flipping wood, fishing wingdams, rocks. Its an awesome fishery and I'm sure there will be no shortage of fish caught. Me myself. I am looking forward to catching some big smallies on topwater.

but to answer your question. I would put the success rate very high. I haven't fished here, but from the stories I have heard my anticipation level is very high. Tennis pro wrote a post a page or 2 back about the fishing there.
