update.  I took the reel to Mexico.  and my buddy, hooked it and launched the rad and reel into a deep Mexican lake.  haha..

it was flinging deep diving crank baits, so far.  70 yards?  the rod helped.   I could throw an LV500 and almost spool the reel.  I would watch it shrink before my eyes..before I WHOA! with the thumb.

when I got home I sat down to replace it.  buy a JDM equivalent, or the same same.  quick google search showed the Curado outcasted the Scorpion.  so I bought another one.  it not ride on my topwater rod throwing walking baits for the horizon.  that thing is my distance champion..undisputed distance champion.  it is wild.

Reels / I bought and paid for my trip ...

my wife is of the understanding I am going to drop my bags and hit up a tackle shop.

I have decided to give BFS a try again, but with better stuff.  lets me honest, the Curado BFS isn't really BFS.   neither was the phenix light rod I picked.  poor entry for me.

I think a Daiwa Alpha air, and some light light travel rod will be the ticket.  I am planning a backpack trout trip and I will use it, but after that it is bass bass bass.

Wow! That sounds like my old Mercury on the Glastron 40 years ago. I spent more time in my parent's back yard than I did the water.

It's only money and you can't take it with you. Sure good to hear you're back on the water and winning too.

You got to be tough. And your Legend is a GREAT boat.

That's too much for a new 4S. I can beat that by $4 -$5K I think... Still too much.

AND, I hear there's a shortage of marine mechanics. Just sayin'.

I know this is an older thread, but this kind of innovation is timeless and deserves another look.

SenkoSam, this is top-tier work right here.

The real value isn't just pouring plastic; it's the innovation of creating new shapes from scraps and then immediately proving them with fish on the bank. The photos tell the whole story.

Respect the ingenuity, especially with those old-school plaster molds. Solid post.

Matt! Great to hear from you. ~c~

We may put together another Guntersville trip sometime or just drop in unexpectedly on Caddy Joe with a search warrant for his beer cooler.  ~roflmao

~cf That's how you tackle a new fishery, Hobious. Respect the jump to the salt from a kayak. Your gear prep is spot-on; that's half the battle won right there. Connecting with experienced locals is the best shortcut there is and will shave years off your learning curve. Looking forward to seeing the report and the pictures.

Hey, my friend great to hear from you.  It's been a while, and we need to get together soon.  Been spending a lot of time in Ga. with the grandkids.  I hope all is well with you and yours.

100%.  I never go out on any water without it.  I've had to pull my truck over to take it off after forgetting I was still wearing it.  I am very accustomed to having it on, and the discomfort is in the most distant part of my brain.  :D
